Lifestyle photographer| Clovis|Tips for holiday photos

Holiday photos have been a staple for many clients. I often get asked the question of what they can do to better prepare themselves for next year's holiday photos. So I came up with 3 important tips that will help you prepare for holiday photos.

Select the perfect location

The first thing you need to consider is what location would you like your holiday photos to take place. I often suggest to clients select a location that is different from their previous holiday photos. This will give your holiday cards a new feel and look. Another thing to consider when choosing a location is the weather. Considering the weather will make it easier for you and your family to have a comfortable session.

Selecting the perfect wardrobe

Selecting the perfect wardrobe for the holidays is what ties the photos together. You wanna stick to the classic holiday colors and patterns. I suggest you don't match completely with other family members. It is OK to have similar shades of colors and patterns but avoid being the same. You also want to consider coordinating your outfit colors with the location where your photos will take place. This will make your outfits pop from the image instead of blending in the background. Consider the weather and layer up. Layers are easy and are super convenient during the colder holiday months, you can always take off or put on more layers as you're moving through the session for a quick change of wardrobe.

Book in advance

This is very important during the holidays. Photographers are extremely busy and tend to book up fast. If this is your first time booking with a photographer I suggest you reach out to them in August and ask about their holiday sessions for example. I book holiday sessions in August and September usually if a client reaches out to me in late November or late October I am completely booked so it is important that you book in advance and don't wait last minute. This will also be beneficial if you want to do holiday cards.

Holiday cards are so beautiful and holiday photos are a definite must in a lot of households, so I hope these tips will benefit you in some way and make your holiday photo process much easier.
