Why I included video to five Oceano

I have been doing photography exclusively for over four years and I have made amazing connections and relationships with lots of clients all over California, who I photographed weddings, Maternity, and family sessions for. I was always 100% happy with just doing photography alone but part of me wanted to dabble back into what got me excited about pursuing this creative field full time from the start which was making short films. I knew that starting fresh and re-learning everything I was was a master at was going to be a long journey, but I definitely knew that it is part of who I am as a creator, and, something that I wanted to also share with my clients. I knew I didn’t want to be an exclusive videographer. I still wanted to continue with Photography that I loved so much so I decided to only provide short films into my services. I will go more into detail below on what I consider to be a short film and how I structure them.

Why video?

You’ll be surprised if I told you that it was way harder for me to learn and transition from video to Photography. I was so used to moving motion that stills were just not enough for me at a certain point in my creative career now that I’ve been doing exclusively photography for over four years, I find myself at the other end of the spectrum where going back to moving motion is almost , a natural thing for me to do yet somewhat challenging. I am a sucker for a short film that’s just what I like and I feel super connected to. I think you get so much out of a few moments captured on video that I wanted to start creating them for myself again. I began with my own short family films, and I realized how real and genuine they were similar to my photographs that I decided to offer that for my clients, just simple, real genuine, intimate, short films that hold a story about a moment.

What are short films?

Short films for me are videos under five minutes duration. They can have many different formats. Some can be as long as a minute maybe two minutes but my cap for duration is five minutes. how I structure them depends on what the client wants captured. Most of my videos are short recaps of intimate weddings or family sessions. I don’t focus of all events. Just like Photography I focus on small weddings and elopements, family and maternity. How I structure them is based on some must halves for clients and from there I create my own vision, storyboard on how I want to film the moment.

My vision

How I want to create my short films is based on the same core values I have in my photography which are being real, genuine, pure, and intimate. I want my films to showcase real emotions from real people, whether it be telling a love story, or capturing the warmth of a family or the excitement of a new expected family member , they’re all real life moments that I want to showcase and tell the stories of. I like to explain it as just imagine my photographs had motion, and that’s how you would envision my short films to be.

Booking and timeline

I get many questions on how to book a video service, and what the timeline is. similar to Photography The booking process starts from submitting a inquiry request. from there I will reach back establish if we need to set up a video consultation or if we can answer a short questionnaire to understand all of the clients needs and wants from there , once that has been taken care of, I will compose a proposal contract that must be signed by me and clients along with a paid retaining deposit to reserve filming date. Once the booking process is complete and filming day is all wrapped up with clients can expect a variation of a turnaround time depending on films length it can take 1-2 weeks that is if it is exclusively booked video only service if it is along with a photography service, the turnaround time will increase. I always meet my deadlines, so expect a variation, depending on Film length and if booked together with a Photography service. The video will be delivered similar like my photography services are which is an online web provider, which is super easy. All you have to do is hit download once I email you with the information. Simple and straightforward from the start to end.

Video and short films have always been a huge part of who I am, and it made so much sense to include them into my services. I hope that I will continue to capture more short films and special moments for my clients an add to the amazing experience, that being a Creative has been for me.
