THREE TIPS ON CHOOSING THE IDEAL LOCATION FOR YOUR FAMILY PHOTO SESSION

I’ve been photographing families for years and one of the main questions they always ask me is about which location is best for their family. Here are the things I tell my clients when they are considering locations for their sessions. 

 Ideal location ideas for your next family photoshoot. 

Your comfort levels

Are you comfortable being photographed in a public setting? There is lots of beautiful locations that are often in public setting like in downtown where people are constantly walking by. You may want a downtown city vibe for your photos, but you have to ask yourself if you are ok with other people looking at you.

What’s your family’s personalities?

Ask your self which location best fits my family’s personality. Does your family spend a lot of time in the city, or do you like to be outdoors in a beautiful park? This will also tie in with the feeling of comfort that will lead to great photos.

What are your family needs? 

If this photo session is for a specific need, like a themed session, the location you select is super important. Also, is the location convenient for family? How far is the drive? Are the kids going to be in a happy mood when they get there and see the location? These are all questions you should ask yourself before selecting a location.

Hopefully these short tips helped you make a decision on location, but remember the location isn’t as important as the people in the photo so don’t stress too much about it.
