What to expect from a fall photoshoot

What I personally love about fall is the beautiful fall colors all around town. As an outdoor photographer this means I have most  beautiful locations as backdrops.Their is also new and fun locations like pumpkin patches and farms that open up around this time making fall photos a whole entire experience. You can decide on new and different options for your photo setting. Below I will list a few of the things you should expect and look forward to when booking fall photos.

I’M A LAIDBACK PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m known to be a laid-back photographer that likes to have fun during my sessions and can care less about taking the perfect photo. Of course this doesn’t mean my work isn’t beautiful. It just means that I’m

Not going to stress about “getting the perfect shot”. I put most of my energy into creating a original and genuine experience for my clients and myself. And the reality is that every session in photograph is going to be different because I’m working with different clients. The way I structure my sessions is geared and focused on my clients energy my clients level of comfort and what their personality is like. I will never make a client who has different comfort levels then let’s say a previous client I’ve just worked with do the same thing. You won’t have to worry about me putting you in crazy poses and having you hold a smile for an hour. I like our session environment to be comfortable, fun and memorable. Regardless if this is your first ever professional family session. Or if this is your 50th session one thing I can tell you is your family can relax and be themselves.

LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHER

To put me in a box you can say I’m a lifestyle photographer. What this means is I don’t pose. What not posing looks like is where the family is in the moment. Vs where everyone is looking at the camera smiling directly all the time. I look for moments that showcase family intimacy. Where the kiddos are playful and silly, where mom and dad are holding their babies with tenderness. Some people call it the “no posing style” photography. Don’t get me wrong if the kiddos are willingly looking at the camera smiling Its defiantly a plus. I will say look at the camera, but this isn’t what are whole session will consist of. I want to showcase the love families have without the pressure of posing for a photo but with the peace of knowing that being themselves is enough for amazing photographs. I do what I call lose posing. I start of by asking my families to sit or stand together. I like to see how they naturally pose themselves together then I go in and move them around if needed. Since I seek connections, I often ask my families to give each other lots of kisses to hold hands, to hug, to make each other laugh. That’s how I do my lose posing. I tell my families have fun pretend I’m not here. Let’s not get this confused with candid photos since I will also have you look over at me from time to time

Fun Stylish Wardrobe

Fall wardrobe is so stylish with the ability to layer clothing and add more accessories like scarfs and big hats. Along with the earthy tones that fall brings it allows you to match with your surrounding making the photos look great and flow better. The great thing about earthy tones is that everyone looks great in them, so it makes it easier to find an outfit for everyone. Earthy tones are also very timeless. They age very well as the years go by the photos won’t look outdated. Earthy fall tones also look great everywhere in your house. They go with mostly every home décor. A very recent fall wardrobe trend is oversize coats and blazers. I find these to be super cute and how keep you warm it’s the perfect excuse to dress up. If you have a hard time picking out a wardrobe I recommend going with the classic denim.  Whether it be jeans or jackets overalls you name it. Denim transitions very well into the fall season and you can simply pair it with a neutral toned top and it’s super easy and looks great. Needless to say that fall has some of the best fashions of the entire year and it can be super fun to plan a cute outfit try not to stress or overthink it sometimes the more simple the better the look.

Plan for the weather

Here in central California the temperatures start cooling down around the fall specially in the morning, evenings and at night. Unfortunately this means that during the morning you typically Want to wear warmer clothes by noon you start getting warm and so on sometimes you don’t even know what type of weather to dress for. So to make the photo session the most comfortable experience I suggest you bring layers. This means bring an extra sweater that possibly might come in handy. ideally select something that will look great with your outfit. It also helps if you check the weather app hourly. This means clicking on the day of your session and click the hourly predictions that way you have more clear sense of how the weather is going to be at the exact time of the photo shoot.
