The importance of getting grandparents in the photos
I wrote a blog about the importance of parents being in their child photos so I wanted to write a separate blog talking about how important it is for grandparents to be in family portraits. Like most photographers I love it when parents ask me if grandparents can join the photos. I always agree because I think Grandparents make every shot I take 10 times better. it's something about how carefree they are that really shows through the camera and allows me to capture their personality I love it.
family bonding time
regardless if you see your grandparents every day or every weekend during family photo shoots the family bonds in a unique way. usually everyone is at their most vulnerable state maybe because they are a little nervous and intimidated by the process. I found this allows the family to bond over the experience together. I have personally like to make my photography sessions super fun and laid back. so I always try to get the family to laugh and have a good time making the session fun and enjoyable for everyone.
once in a lifetime moment
there's a difference between a phone selfie and professional portrait for example a professional portrait captures every single thing about each subject in the picture so I always encourage families to bring their grandparents because it's a once in a life time a moment that everyone is in the same place looking great and is having a great time. having a professional capture this moments his priceless.
special for the grandparents
grandparents are known for having stacks of pictures of their entire family often walking into grandparents house y'all will always find family frames all over the house you often don't find photos of themselves all over the house so having them included makes it extra special for them.
a family keepsake
something I definitely wish I had more of was pictured with my own grandparents. Nowadays I try so hard to get hold up one single photo were I was with my grandparents and sadly I only have one. this is devastating because I don't get to show my kids a photo of my own grandparents. so heavily a family photo with the crown parents is a keepsake that you cannot take for granted.
consider how important it is to bring the grandparents in the photos even if it's just for one shot convince them. If they are camera shy tell them how rewarding the outcome would be. I know photography sessions can be intimidating but if you work with the right photographer the experience will be enjoyable. you don't want to take these moments for granted. having photos that the whole family can look back at is important.
